The 900 Classic Convertible:In the illustrious history of Saab, the 900 "Classic" is amongst the most revered models of them all. One magazine recalls: "There’s a real solidity to the way the 900 goes about its business, with every control having a meaty directness to its operation. There’s no slack or slop here, just positive responses that inspire confidence whatever the road or weather conditions, and as a classic that makes for an ideal everyday driver". The idea of a 900 Convertible was an initiative of the American importer who saw great sales potential in a fully-fledged 4-seater Saab based on the superb 900 platform. It really is the gentlemen's convertible of choice, accepted in all circles - such as the Arctic!Saabs were notorious for being high mileage beasts and together with the relatively high attrition rate as a cost of corrosion make low mileage, rust free and mint examples of the 900 Convertible extremely rare these days. The one we're pleased to have sourced here, does nevertheless belongs to that elite group.This 900 Convertible:Chassis no. 5770 is a rare original Dutch example, originally consigned to Mr. R.J. Stolk by Saab Apeldoorn on the 6th of May 1993 with reg. Number GL-SN-28, the registration it still bares to date. This 900 was specified in the classy spec of Solid Black with black softtop over an off-white full leather upholstery with the fabled 2 litre 16V engine and the all-important manual gearbox. Complemented further by the 15" Short Spoke alloy wheels and benefitting from the expensive but ever-important option of factory A/C!This 900 is presented in completely dead-stock and fully original condition, boasting 100% first paint (good luck with finding another one that has that), with all details, weldspots, shutlines and factory markings still present. The body truly is immaculate as this Saab has reportedly been stored in heated garages throughout its entire life. On the interior its much of the same; unscathered and simply spotless with no cracks in the leather, the suede inserts nor any cracks in the dashboard. The softtop is believed to still being the original which is very plausible as today "5770" has covered a mere 82.050 km's from new, as warranted by the NAP report.Accopanied by all original booklets and documents including the owners manual, fully stamped service manual, service assistance, accessory booklet and original registration documents (in the original Saab Apeldoorn dealer pouch!) from 1993. The original Saab Apeldoorn reg. plate holder is also with the car... Two original keys, the original jack and pouch are present as well as the complete tool set.
