The FIAT 500 L:
Come September 1968, FIAT launched a more lavishly equipped iteration of the 500 F it had on sale at the time, deemed to be called the 500 Lusso or in-short 500 L. The 500 L is technically identical to the 500 F, using the uprated 499 cc engine producing a whopping 17.5 hp. The differentiation with the regular model was solely based on trim level. The Lusso variant benefitted from tubular bumper overriders, giving the car a more dainty appearance, as well as additional brightwork on the windscreens and the roof drip rails. The most notable changes were made to the interior as the painted metal dash made way for a new anti-glare plastic variant and a trapezoid instrument cluster with an actual fuel gauge (previous variants only had a red light that came on when you were about to run out...)! The upholstery was finished in a new pleated leatherette style, and more storage space was created with inserts in the door cards and a central tray.
This FIAT 500 "Lusso":
The Cinquecento we are pleased to be offering here, chassis no 2575494, is a "Lusso" variant which was originally supplied on the 30th of June 1970. Believed an Italian car from new, however this specimen is in the Netherlands for quite some time already - since 2000 to be exact! It has seen just 4 owners in those ca 25 years on Dutch soil and is presented in great overall condition today. Presented in classic Bianco 233 over a Red leatherette upholstery, a nice contrast colour scheme that emulates "la Dolce è Vita" eminently!
The car's last owner, a friend of the business and a proper enthusiast, has purchased her in January 2020 and has used her sparingly ever-since (too sparingly, hence we offer her for sale here!). The car has been stored in a dry garage throughout most of its life and has been cared for meticulously, as substantiated by the vast documentation, invoices and books that come with the 500. It goes without saying the Fiat is absolutely rust-free, fully functioning and needs for nothing before a new owner comes around to use her as intended in the forthcoming Spring and Summer. A classic radio is installed as well and works perfectly (as are all other ancillaries)! The engine is properly set-up, fires up with ease and runs very smooth. The gearbox, brakes, electrical system and suspension components are in equally sorted order.
Accompanied by two full sets of keys, a dedicated history file containing some invoices, MOT reports, period documentation, Dutch (historic) registration documents and even some wiring diagrams and books on the history of the model. If you are looking for one of these in rust-free, totally sorted order - this one is certainly a serious contender and priced very aggressively.
Bite-size:
A true "get in and drive" Fiat 500 in nice "Lusso" variant that is "priced to sell". Will be difficult to find a better example - let alone at that price point.
