2000 Mini Cooper Sport
“For anyone between 25 and 45, the Mini was part of growing up. It gave mobility to millions and bankrupted textile mills by leading the way to mini-skirts (sigh).”
– Peter Sellers in the official Mini brochure of 1997
The last Mini’s:
At the end of the production run when BMW had taken control of the Rover Group, Mini underwent a thorough rebranding as part of a repositioning strategy by BMW. In late 1996, the last comprehensive technical change was implemented with the introduction of the multipoint injection system (in-short MPI). When you were planning on ordering your new Mini at the time, you could choose from a variety of trim levels and accessories. At the end of the (almost 50 year) production cycle of the classic Mini, they offered a top-of-the-range model which came with all the optional extra's as standard; the Cooper Sport.
The Cooper Sports came with some notable additions to the widely known sportspack. Besides 13 inch alloys, additional gauges in fascia, large body colour extended wheelarches, 2 driving and 2 fog lamps and a large tailpipe finisher – the Cooper Sport came with Silver contrasting roof, bonnet stripes and mirror casings as well as Cooper Sport badge on the rear. On the interior an “engine turned” aluminium dashboard was fitted, together with more aluminium accessories as found on the John Cooper Works cars; aluminium gearknob, window winders and door latches.
The Cooper Sports offered all the good stuff that one could get on these little pocket rockets at the time. Missed the boat by not ordering one when they were new? Take a look at the example we’re offering here instead!
This Mini Cooper Sport:
The car on offer here is genuinely one of the last Mini’s built, being firstly registered on the 5th of September 2000 in Belgium (its an original Belgian car). The motorcar was suited with registration number 1NTY370 and finished from new in the svelte colour combination of Anthracite over a Black and Silver leather interior.
With this being an original Belgian car (we imported the car ourselves to the Netherlands), a consistent Car-Pass report indicates and warrants the original mileage of 41k km from new. The unparalleled originality of this Mini is further underlined by the fact it is suited with its first paint – as stated by a paint depth report. Furthermore is the history file suited with a selection of invoices of past servicing works as well as part orders from previous custodians over the years. It goes without saying it pulls, shifts and drives as good as a classic Mini should!
The Mini comes with all original accessories; owner’s manual, warranty card, service manual, suede booklet pouch as well as the original jack in the original pouch. Very rarely do Mini’s of this calibre come to market with such uninterrupted provenance, with such unmolested original and tasteful specification and let-alone - such low mileage.
The classic Mini you've always lusted after and promised yourself. If you've missed the boat when they sold them new, this is an opportunity not to be missed as they don’t make them like this anymore!
