The Z3 2.8:The 2.8 straight-six, engine code M52 is a highly prized engine amongst BMW aficionados and the top-of-the-line engine in the Z3 (Z3M aside, ofcourse). A lightweight aluminium engine block, DOHC as well as a single VANOS system on the first series cars (variable valve control for the inlet) all culminating to a healthy 193 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Bare in mind, Z3's only come in at just over 1.300 kg - so a 2.8 Z3 is pretty fast car!All six cylinder Z3's were fitted from factory with the so-called "wide-body", giving the Z3 a notoriously more muscular stance with considerably wider arches on both front and rear. Even a powerbulge on the bonnet was incorporated into the near timeless open-two-seater design. Z3 2.8's present a very interesting proposition in today's market as sort of a "modern classic". These cars provide plenty of creature comforts for daily use in the Summer months for example, especially if suited with the GM 4L30-E automatic gearbox. The wide variety of the BMW Z3 market in terms of price points, mileages and overall conditions offer something for everyone. Automatic cars are generally more accessible in the market and therefore offer a great buy for someone who is looking for a distinctive Summer tourer. At Garage Maestricht, we only look for high quality, low mileage cars in desirable and rare colours. Expect the best of its kind when you see a Z3 for sale with us, such as this car. This Z3:Chassis no. LD40722 was originally supplied to its first owner on the 16th of May 1997 by Automobielbedrijf Bert Story of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Originally supplied with reg number RR-HB-14 (the registration it still bears today), and specified very elegantly in the rare colour of Boston-Grün metallic over a Moos-grün interior. The interior was further complemented by extended green leather on the dashboard and central tunnel as well as the Sports steering wheel (BMW exclusive options). The history of this example is continuous and well documented - the first owner kept the car until 2005, when it was purchased by the second owner who would keep it for no less than 20 years before we sourced and purchased it - making this a virtual 2-owner car. This example was ordered new with numerous optional extra's, underwhich an automatic gearbox, M Sports suspension, cruise control, 25% locking differential, A/C, heated seats, wood trim as well as the Z Star 5-spoke wheels.Today this Z3 has covered a mere 77.250 km's from new and boasts an immaculate and continuous service history substantiated by its original BMW service booklet. The last service was carried out at 76.392 km's (about 850 km's ago) including oil, filter, airfilter and a brake fluid flush. Yours truly has driven the car straight home on a wonderful 240 km drive back to Maastricht after purchasing it - a real testament of this car's dependability right out of the box. We took the decision that although the tires that were fitted still had plenty of thread on them, they were a bit old so a fresh set of Michelins Pilot Sport 4's were fitted. Today the car presents nothing short of immaculate throughout with only minor signs of use, all accessories and ancillaries working as they should and even the softtop is in superb order (as is the rear screen, a notorious gremlin on these). The engine pulls sharply and uninterrupted (sign of a great working VANOS system), as these pre-facelift 2.8's should. This Z3 needs for nothing before being enjoyed by a new owner and is accompanied by all original booklets; Z3 user manual, 2.8 "zusatzbetriebsanleitung", service booklet as well as the BMW Service-Stationen 1996/97. The toolkit is complete, all sets of keys are present as well as a dedicated history file with NAP (Nationale Auto Pas), certifying the mileage year-on-year. The car has just received a fresh MOT (01-04-2025) so is completely on the button. We can supply her with export documents including COC and support in worldwide shipping!Bite-Size:Another great first series Z3 with the mighty 2.8 straight-six. This time in rare Bostongrün (one of the best colourcombos we think) and with an Automatic gearbox - which makes it an attractive Cruiser for the summer months!€19.500,-
