1997 Mini 1.3 MPI Sportspack

Anthracite & Stone Beige

Chassis no. 139814

Reg number: G-204-VV

The Mini MPI:
At the end of the production run when BMW had taken control of the Rover Group, Mini underwent a thorough rebranding as part of a repositioning strategy. In late 1996, the last comprehensive technical change was implemented with the introduction of the multipoint injection system (in-short MPI). When you were planning on ordering your new Mini at the time, you could basically choose 2 setups; the “Mini” and the “Mini Cooper” – with the sole differentiation between the two being the trim and accessories.
For those who wanted to show-off the sporting credentials the Mini had earned over the past decades just a thatch more, there was a sports option pack available containing; 13 inch alloys, additional gauges, large body colour extended wheel arches, additional driving and/or fog lamps and a large tailpipe finisher.
Original Sportspacks are widely regarded as the most collectable of the last Mini’s built, rust-free examples with warranted low mileages are increasingly rare. which makes the one we have available here ever-so tempting.
This Mini MPI Sportspack:
The car on offer here is one of those sought-after Mini’s with the uprated MPI engine and boasting the sought-after Sportspack, being first registered on the 26th of June 1997. This original German specimen was consigned in the svelte spec of Anthracite over a Stone Beige leather upholstery – exactly as it is presented today. Having spent most of its life in Germany in the hands of just a handful of owners, by December 2019 the car was purchased by its last Dutch custodian and imported to the Netherlands under reg number G-204-VV.
Currently the Mini has covered a mere 87k warranted km’s from new and presents in stunning condition throughout. This example benefits from some nice upgrades including an open roof, twin-DTM exhaust silencer and a fully upholstered boot. Prior to offering her for sale, this Mini has been the recipient of a fully-fledged documented aesthetical overhaul in the Summer of 2022 including a full respray. The full process is documented by imagery, mainly focussed on tackling commencing corrosion in the early stages and preserving this wonderful example for the future. Today this Mini presents itself in splendid condition, totally free of corrosion or any rust whatsoever – ready for a new owner to enjoy it as intended.
The Mini comes with all original documents and booklets, including the service and owner’s manual as well as the owner’s supplement. The documentation stretches all the way to this motorcar’s German roots, including the original “Fahrzeugbrief”, GTU and TÜV reports and a variety of invoices. Accompanied accessories include the original jack in its correct bag, wheel wrench and spare wheel.
