The 900 "Classic":
The SAAB 900 "Classic" is a pivotal car in automotive history, with legendary build quality and technical ingenuity that solidified SAAB as a world-class brand to be reconed with at the time. It is widely regarded that the Classic 900 is the de-facto SAAB and was at the absolute zenith of automotive engineering back in the day, together with Mercedes-Benz.
The 900 was available in a host of iterations underwhich a 3-door and 4-door saloon as well as a more sporty hatchback and from 1986 onwards, also as a convertible. SAAB's have been built to cover long distances in great comfort and serenity - at high velocity that is! It is commonly agreed that the 900 Classic to have, has to have a Turbo and manual gearbox. A Turbocharged 900 was one of the fastest acelerating 4-seaters in the world back in the day, to give a spot of conext . The Convertibles are sought-after for obvious reasons, but the driver's choice is the 3-door hatchback due to increased regidity and styling that is just synonimous with SAAB. Most SAAB's can cover hundreds of thousands of km's without big overhauls, making low mileage examples a mere rarity these days. Now let's have a look at the one that we managed to source here...
This "reference model" 900S:
This 900S is a very special car indeed. Chassis no 2010437 is a 900S coupé (hatchback), and has covered a mere 41.000 km's with just 2 (!) owners from new. The mileage as well as the ownership is warranted by the acompanied documentation, which is fully complete. Originally consigned on the 3rd of March 1993, this late production example benefits from the low-pressure-turbo (LPT) 2.0 16 valve engine, which produces a hefty 145PS. The LPT provides most of the sporty characteristics of the HPT variants (with 160PS) but without the durability issues that come with those. This 900S is presented in the right spec too: Solid Black over a Charcoal full leather "Bridge of Weir" upholstery, manual gearbox, ice cold airconditioning and a sunroof to top it all off.
This example boasts 100% first paint throughout (try finding another SAAB that has that), is therefore totally accident-free and presents in near-new condition throughout. A real time-capsule for the descerning enthusiast. It's service history is wel-documented and continuous:
14-06-1998, 7.428 km
11-03-2002, 16.328 km
03-09-2006, 19.224 km
12-01-2012, 23.631 km
20-12-2020, 35.000 km
05-06-2021, 38.430 km
10-2024, 41.000 km
Today this 900S presents nothing short of mint and is fully functioning in all aspects; all electronics and ancillaries work as per they should. The engine, gearbox and entire drivetrain really feel "fresh" (in concordance with the mileage) and the body is totally rust-free thanks to the South Italian climate and, as mentioned before, is completely 1st paint. This automatically means all shutlines, apertures and fixings are factory correct as well. The car is accompanied by all original accessories including the complete toolkit, jack, spare wheel, user manual, accessory booklet, service booklet, two sets of keys and an ASI Gold plaque. The tires are near brand new and the car has just been serviced, so it is ready to go with a new owner! We can deliver her on Dutch plates with a fresh MOT for the Dutch clients, or with export documents to be registered worldwide. We also assist with worldwide shipping, so feel free to ask for a quote.
Bite-Size:
Well just ask the question, where do you still find an untouched SAAB 900 Turbo, in 1st paint, with 41.000 km's and just two woners from new? These are increasingly sought-after, so do not miss this opportunity!
