E301991 BMW 320i Cabrio
Alpinweiss II & Anthracite Überkaro Cloth
Chassis no. WBABA31070EB79033
Few BMW’s receive the same widespread affection from enthusiasts as the E30 3 Series. Originally launched in 1982 as a coupe and 4-door sedan as well as a Bauer-Cabrio kit, from 1985 onwards BMW added a fully-fledged convertible to their roster as demand was clearly evident. Those in the know generally agree that the setup to have on an E30 (bar the M3, naturally) is the 6-cylinder (internally known as M20) mated to a Getrag 5-speed manual. In 320i format, that came down to an adequate 1991 cc with 127 hp at 6000 rpm and 164 Nm of torque.
Original, unmolested E30’s are increasingly rare as the attrition rate is generally high due to rust and corrosion. This makes us ever-so pleased be able to offer this tasteful original Italian specimen. This 320i E30 Cabrio:The car we’re pleased to be offering here, chassis WBABA31070EB79033, was first registered on the 29th of April 1991 in Italy. We sourced and subsequently transported the car to the Netherlands from the viscinity of Rome, Italy. Its original spec of Alpinweiss II (colour code 218) and Anthracite Überkaro Cloth hide suit the E30 like a glove. This E30 is in exceedingly great shape thanks to its modest 103k km’s from new, which is believed to being the original mileage. Mileage can be underwritten in a number of ways; documentation is one, the car itself is another. We’re pleased to confirm the paintwork is largely 1st paint (see paint depth images). The near immaculate interior, mechanicals and overall “feel” of the car underline the mileage to be believed original. The optional extras of this E30 consist of central locking (option code 300), green tinted glass all-round (350), fog lights (520) a black softtop (370) and country code 814 with it being an original Italian export car.The paintwork, panel gaps and overall finish of trim are consistent throughout and no signs of corrosion are apparent (thanks to the South Italian climate!). The fabric roof has been renewed, the Überkaro cloth interior is original and shows remarkably little signs of wear and tear. The entire interior is near mint, with the exception of a little crack in the plastic dash. This is a common find for E30’s in warm climates as UV light makes the plastic shrink a little. All electrics including the on-board diagnostics are fully functioning.Mechanically the E30 is very sound too. It drives beautifully as per it should – as this motorcar has been the recipient of a compete service and checkover in April 2022 totalling to €4179,62. The following facets have been addressed:
Overhaul of the valve clearances, new camcover gasket, replacement of old hoses and clamps, general engine tune-up.
