The GT 1300 Junior:
By the mid 1960’s, Alfa was in its heyday with the offering of the 105/115 series. Designed by (the then 17 year-old) Giorgetto Giugiaro the 105 series GT is widely regarded as Alfa’s finest hour with regards to its illustrious history of road cars. It boasted onto the scene in 1963 in its inaugural form, containing numerous revolutionary technicalities; a 5-speed gearbox, double overhead camshaft, aluminium block and head as well as 4-wheel disc brakes to name but a few.
These GT’s just tick so many boxes as an eminently usable and enjoyable classic motorcar; timeless design wrapped around technically advanced ingenuity for utmost driving pleasure. The comparatively high attrition rate over the years due to its sensibility to corrosion, unmolested specimen in genuinely great condition are highly sought-after by enthusiasts. Just like the one we're offering here.
This GT 1300 Junior:
This specimen, chassis no AR1275939 is a late 1971 car, first registered on the 17th of December of that year. In our humble opinion, Alfa's should definitely not (always) be red which makes us look out for the lesser-seen shades - just like the Grigio Chiaro 737 on this car.
The last 15 years were spent in the hands of Belgian custodians according to the accompanied Car-Pass certificate, having covered just over 3000 km's since 2008. The GT has evidently seen some restoration works over the years including a full respray sometime in its life, with a very sound and straight body boasting razor sharp shut lines and correct spot welds in various places. The car does not show any signs of corrosion, as the underside depicts a very honest body. No concours standards, but very sound and truthful. The interior is neat and generally unscuffed, with original headlining still in place and a nice dashboard with just a little crack on its top. A period correct and functioning Inno-Hit radio is fitted to the dashboard.
The drivetrain runs very smoothly, with a greatly tuned engine (easy cold start without the use of the choke!) and excellent gearbox (no crunchy synchro’s in 2nd gear). The history file contains numerous invoices of servicing work and parts, insinuating this GT has been in the hands of enthusiasts who looked after it. The engine is mated to a pair of Dellorto DHLA 40 carburettors. Adding to the great stance are the 14" GTA style wheels with brand new Hankook tires. Usually you see these with 15" wheels, however those who know know that the original GTA's were only suited with 14" rims - just like on this car.
Very rarely are 105.30’s offered in such well sorted order, these are eligible and very usable in a variety of events where it will be a very welcome guest. The GT will be supplied with a jack and spare wheel, history file and a single set of keys. The car can be seen on a working bridge from all angles, and naturally be taken for a test drive as well.
