TIPO 110F.000

1968 Fiat 500 Lusso

Giallo Positano
Chassis no. 1988761
The Fiat 500:
The classic Fiat 500 needs no introduction. Originally launched in 1957, over the years some considerable improvements (both aethetically and technically) saw the light of day. It was September 1968 when Fiat launched a more lavishly equipped iteration of the 500 F it had on sale at the time, deemed to be called the 500 Lusso or in-short 500 L.
The 500 L is technically identical to the 500 F, using the uprated 499 cc engine producing a whopping 18 hp. The differentiation with the regular model was solely based on trim level. The Lusso variant benefitted from tubular bumper overriders, giving the car a more dainty appearance. Further brightwork was installed on the windscreens and the roof drip rails. The most notable changes were made to the interior as the painted metal dash made way for a new anti-glare plastic variant and a trapezoid instrument cluster was installed. The upholstery was finished in a pleated leatherette style, and more storage space was created with inserts in the door cards and a central tray (no Italian car is really complete without one). Another handy feature that Fiat added to the Lusso is a fuel gauge incorporated into the instrument cluster (probably due to customer complaints popular demand of clients being stranded with an empty tank).
This Fiat 500 L:
The motorcar on offer here, chassis number 1988761, is a very early L variant as it was originally constructed in 1968. It wasn't until the 1st of January 1969 that it was registered to its reg number RMD57322. This Fiat remained in Italy throughout its entire life until we acquired it via an intermediary from its previous Italian owner, R. Cuollo of Rome.
The motorcar is presented in dainty Giallo Positano over a Nero upholstery and carpeting. The car is presented in a nice condition throughout and is accompanied by a registration to the ASI (Automotorclub Storico Italiano) under number 130252 since March 2005.
The car is absolutely rust-free, with consistent bodywork and shutlines - no concours standars but very honest and solid nevertheless. The engine fires up without any hesitation, and the gearbox shifts very smoothly too. It goes without saying all electrics are fully functioning making it ready for plenty of enjoyable miles with a next custodian.
Another great example of the classic 500 in Lusso iteration. Italian nostalgia at its finest, a classic car that will surely put a smile on your face as well as your wife's;)
