TIPO 110D.000

1963 Fiat 500 D "Trasformabile"
Verde Chiaro 363

Chassis no. 428315

Engine no. 476065

The Fiat 500 D:
The Fiat 500 D is by many considered to be the "sweet spot" of the fabled classic Fiat 500 modelrange. It's easy to see why, it boasts all the intricate details of the first series "N" cars underwhich the incredibly elegant suicide doors and in ultimate "Trasformabile" iteration, the fully folding back roof (in contrast to most cars that come with the smaller softtop as seen on later F, L and R series).
All lessons learned by Fiat on the first batch of cars were translated into the uprated D series, a bigger engine (from 479cc to 499cc) with more power, but more importantly - more torque! Besides was the build quality improved upon as was the standard equipment - more accessories were added to give passsengers a more comfortable experience overall. Subtle but notable changes make the D series a much more approachable and useable car than the early N series. The one to have really.
This Fiat 500 D Trasformabile:
The motorcar we have the pleasure of offering for sale here is chassis number 428315, originally consigned by M. Sciucca of Frosinone in Italy on the 8th of Feb 1963. The car has remained in Italy ever since and was suited to licence plate FR 034011 and is finished in the utterly vibrant shade of Verde Chiaro 363 over a tasteful Tan hide with a light Grey softtop.
This specimen is accompanied by a host of original documents which depict its provenance very neatly underwhich the original Libretto, Foglio Complementare and a contemporary MOT report. The Libretto states this car was indeed originally consigned as "Trasformabile" configuration, something rarely seen amongst these 500 D's as most cars are retro-converted to fit the Trasformabile softtop - making this specimen an even rarer beast.
The car has evidently been restored very neatly some years ago by a previous owner in Italy, where the body and running gear gotten thorough attention. During this restoration, the interior has been correctly reupholstered as well and a new softtop has been fitted as well - all showing little to no signs of use post restoration. This little Fiat therefore presents in absolutely stunning form today, with a greatly pulling engine and nicely shifting gearbox. The body shows absolutely zero signs of rust and is very original throughout with great panel gapping and shutlines. The brakes function well too as does the steering, showing no signs of excessive play of any kind for instance. To top all off have 4 fresh white-wall tires been fitted, making it ready to hit the road in the upcoming Summer!
Finding a greatly specced and restored 500 D Trasformabile with great provenance is no mean feat. We're delighted to have sourced yet another great example of this ever-increasingly popular model.
